The Code for Sustainable Homes is an environmental assessment method for rating and certifying the performance of new homes. The Housing and Regeneration Bill requires that from May 2008 all new homes built by a developer will need to state whether a Code rating has been sought.

Although the Code is not yet mandatory for privately built dwellings, it is becoming increasingly common for Local Planning Authorities to condition that new houses achieve a certain Code rating regardless of whether they are being built for a private individual or a developer.

Allan Joyce Architects have a qualified in-house Code for Sustainable Homes Assessor. This benefits projects within the office as we can ensure that our dwellings are designed to the required Code level from an early stage in the project. We can also carry our Code for Sustainable services for projects where we may not have been involved at design stage.

We offer the following services:

  • Full assessment service for any domestic project
  • Pre-estimates highlighting what your project can achieve based on a set of planning stage drawings
  • Advice on how to achieve the required Code level
