- Allan Joyce Architects are currently working on the conversion of a 17th century stone barn in open countryside near Southwell into a large family home.
- Two floors will be inserted into the existing structure creating living and bedroom accommodation, with an extension housing services and a further bedroom and snug.
- An interpretation of a historic extension, long demolished, the new wing will be sunk into the hill with south facing glazing to appreciate the spectacular views.
- Reducing energy use is a priority in the design so the house will feature generous levels of insulation, natural daylighting, heat recovery ventilation, rainwater harvesting and ground source heat pump space and water heating.
- The building will feature on Channel Five's ''Build a New Life in the Country'' next year.
- The project is due to commence on site in November 2008.
