our services and fees
We generally work within the RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) recommended service structure, although we recognise that timescales, budgets and personal circumstances can all change throughout the lifetime of a project and so we offer clients a flexible service and fee framework within which to work.

The RIBA service structure breaks the role of an architect down into the following stages :

  • Inception and feasibility
  • Initial design
  • Detail design
  • Production information
  • On site
  • Completion.
and for each of the given stages we agree a fee percentage chargeable depending on the extent and complexity of the project.

You may feel that you do not want us to be involved in all the stages of the project, so AJA will fully discuss a service and fee structure for your particular project at the outset so that you are left in no doubt of the likely costs. Because projects vary widely, our fees can be based on lump sum, hourly rate or percentage which we can discuss when we first meet.
