New Methodist Church centre Mickleover |
- Client : Mickleover Methodist Church
- Budget : £800,000
- Mickleover Methodist Church was well established but was housed in a collection of poorly maintained buildings. The buildings were on a single site and ranged in age from the original victorian chapel to a 1970's hall, all linked by a poorly built flat roofed corridor. Whilst their initial brief was to build a new, single roof over the interlinked buildings, with help from architect Clive Hewitt, the client group gradually realised that a more practical and cost effective solution was to demolish and rebuild all but the 1970's hall at the rear. The new building contains a new worship area, small hall, nursery, kitchen and office accommodation, all linked to the old hall. Such is the success of the new centre due to its ability to offer modern, well appointed facilities, that the church is now considering an extension to cope with the numerous bookings which are being made.
