Albany House Client : Leicester Housing Association and Nottingham City Council Budget : £8M The redevelopment of an area within St Ann's Nottingham to create a new mixed use facility for older people. It will provide 71 large residential apartments, a day centre, cafe, hairdressing studio and other community facilities. The works include improvements to Pym Street to create a 'pseudo' homezone and public landscaped space to improve the outlook for the existing residents and the new residents of the properties. These 'eyes on to the street' will promote increased street safety and a sense of community. The proposals use high quality materials Red brick, Falzinc cladding, Cedar boarding and glass in a modern, contemporary manner to create human scale to the elevations and a complimentary rhythm within the street scene. The details should create a distinctive neighborhood identity which is complimentary to the structure of the Victorian properties adjoining the site. Commencing in March 2008, the project is now on site and due for completion by December 2010. |
