Allan Joyce : director
Allan Joyce trained at Nottingham and set up the practice in 1981.
He now takes responsibility for individual houses and other domestic projects
within the office and is particularly interested in energy efficiency.
His own underground house has won awards for its innovative design.
Allan is a member of various civic societies where he takes an interest
in local architectural, planning and conservation issues. He has five
children, is a keen fishermen and spends his holidays on the west coast
of Ireland. | |

Tricia Akers : director
Tricia joined Allan Joyce Architects in 1989, having trained at Nottingham.
She became a partner in 2002 and a director in 2006 when the practice
became a limited company. Tricia takes responsibility within the
practice for commercial and public sector projects and has forged
important links with local companies and Housing Associations. She has
a grown up son, gets actively involved in village life in
Leicestershire where she lives, and enjoys visiting local restaurants. | |

Clive Hewitt : director
Clive trained at Nottingham and joined Allan Joyce Architects as a student
in 1989. He was made an associate in 2002 and a director in 2008.
Clive is passionate about good design and believes that every building
project should address this issue from start to finish. He has designed
numerous items of furniture for his own house. He has two young sons
and likes to play rugby and squash. He is also a keen fisherman and
snowboarder. | |

Annie Duquemin : consultant
Annie trained at Nottingham with Allan and joined him in
partnership in 1987. She retired as a partner in 2004 to spend more
time with her family. Annie now works as a consultant for the practice, undertaking publicity,
health and safety and exhibition work. In her spare time she enjoys
doing triathlons, organising local arts events and is passionate about
making compost and painting. | |

Craig Beech : senior architect
Craig joined Allan Joyce Architects in 1999 during his training at Sheffield.
He has been involved in projects of all types within the office and is
particularly interested in urban planning. When Craig is not working he
likes to travel, play football and renovate semi-derelict houses. | |

Toby Evison : senior architect
Toby joined Allan Joyce Architects in the summer of 2006 after relocating from
Oxford.
He has worked on commercial, residential and education projects and
gained an additional post-graduate diploma in energy efficient buildings in
2001. Toby enjoys walking, mountain biking and travelling in foreign
countries. | |

Mike Harrison : senior architect
Mike trained at
Newcastle and came to work at Allan Joyce Architects as a student in 1998.
Alongside working with his team of architects, he takes responsibility
for managing the computer network within the office. He has
successfully worked on many of the larger projects that the office has
undertaken. Mike is a very good cook and spends a lot of time seeking
out good ingredients for his favourite recipes. In 2008 Mike and Fiona were married in Ballycastle, Northern Ireland. | |

Cara De Angelis : architect Cara joined Allan Joyce Architects in May
2008, having previously worked in York. She has a lot of experience of
working on conservation, arts and residential projects. Cara enjoys
listening to live music and goes to the cinema and bell rings in her
spare time. | |

Steve Baines : architect
Steve joined Allan Joyce Architects following his training at
Newcastle and Bath. His experience working at the practice enabled him to
quickly complete his professional practice qualification and in 2006 he become a qualified
architect. He is a keen walker, knows a lot about Macintosh
computers and likes to listen to Indie music. | |

Kerry Banner : architect
Kerry did her year out
training at Allan Joyce Architects and then completed her second degree
at Nottingham University. She is now a fully qualified architect and has just bought her own house
and is busy establishing the garden. She also goes to spinning classes
in her spare time. | |
|

Fiona Harrison : architect Fiona trained at Nottingham,
spending a year at Melbourne university, before joining Allan Joyce Architects in
2000. She recently became a qualified Code for Sustainable Homes assessor. Her skill at organising make her a very popular part of the
team. She comes from Larne and was a member of the Ulster harp
orchestra up to the age of 18. She loves music of all kinds. In 2008 Fiona and
Mike were married in Ballycastle, Northern Ireland. | |

Leon Rumble : architect
Leon studied at Nottingham University, graduating in 2007 and recently passed his Part 3 professional practice examination. Leon
has travelled extensively and has visited China, South America, India
and Asia. He is now renovating a house and likes to cycle, swim and run
in his spare time. | |

Helen Adams : interior designer
Helen heads up the practice interior design section, having joined
Allan Joyce Architects in 2002. She is a graduate of Huddersfield University and likes to
create innovative and exciting spaces for her clients. Helen has two
boys, is a very keen gardener and chicken keeper and runs to keep fit. | |
|

Kasia Bonenberg : architectural assistant
Kasia graduated from Krakow University of Technology in October
2006 and then worked for PPAB Architects in Poland working on housing
and interior projects. She joined Allan Joyce Architects in August 2007 and is now working
on projects within the practice to gain more experience in England.
Kasia enjoys climbing and skiing and is learning to snowboard. | |

Connie Goulding : architectural assistant
Connie graduated from Carlton University, Ottawa and before coming
to live in England in 2005, worked in Berlin and Hong Kong. She has
worked at the practice since 2007. Connie has three children and is
thinking of setting up an AJA triathlon team as her hobbies are
swimming, cycling and running. | |

Sheila Webster : practice manager
Sheila has worked at Allan Joyce Architects since 1991. She has an Advanced
Diploma in Administrative Management and successfully and cheerfully
manages all aspects of the practice. She has two grown up girls and
loves to walk with her dogs. She is very keen on tracing her family
history and recently visited some newly discovered relatives in
Australia. | |

Laura Burton : admin assistant
Laura joined Allan Joyce Architects in 2004 after studying at college in
Hucknall. She now contributes to all aspects of the management of the
practice. She loves to work out at the gym, go to the cinema and has
just bought her first house. | |
